Valley V-Twin Newsletter

Name that Tune...uh, Newsletter! Do you love contests? Try this one on for size. We've tossed lots of names for this newsletter around and haven't come up with anything catchy. If you've got a suggestion, and we use it, we'll give you a Valley V-Twin $20 gift card and bragging rights.

The Old Town Indio Street Fair is tonight! The Street Fair runs from 5:30pm-8:30pm right across Indio Blvd. from us - at Miles Ave. and Towne Street. We'll be open an extra hour (til 7pm)...but you're welcome to use our parking lot.

Our Rides & Events Calendar is filling up.  Tis the season to be riding...and playing...and going places. If you've got an event or ride to promote, please post it on the calendar. No passwords necessary...and no charges!

Head's Up on one event - The ABATE Local 36 monthly meeting is Thursday, the 14th - yep, Valentine's Day night...at The Point After. It was the old Beer Hunter. On Date Palm south of Dinah Shore. Dinner starts at 6pm to 7pm and the Meeting follows. Minors are welcome & encouraged!

25% off leather jackets...and more!  The Valentine's 25% Off Sale has been slightly modified. It now includes any in-stock leather apparel you purchase at the same time as a jacket. This applies to vests, chaps, boots, leather pants, and gloves. You asked, we listened! The sale ends on Saturday the 16th of February.

Lo-Jack Installation Special extended thru March 31st.  Lo-Jack with the Early Warning System is kicking butt. Vehicle recovery times are amazing and more insurance companies are giving discounts if you have it installed. We realize it's kind of tough to fork out close to $950 for something you can't see, smell, taste, or touch - that's why we're offering $100 off the total price.
Valley V-Twin is the Coachella Valley's only Lo-Jack dealer for all American Motorcycles.

News from the MRF! (Motorcycle Riders Foundation)

PRESIDENTIAL POLITICS – By now it is safe to say that just about everyone in the country is well informed about the heated presidential race this November. This race is significant for a number of reasons, including the fact that it's the first time a woman and a minority are in the race and they are not the same person.  It's also the first race in over 50 years in which neither a sitting president nor vice president is in the race. In addition, the top three candidates are sitting senators, and we haven’t elected a sitting senator to the oval office since John Kennedy in 1961.
Although this race is stacked with differences between the top candidates, giving pretty much everyone out there a reason to vote and a candidate to vote for, there is one sparkling similarity between all of the top candidates. When the United States Senate passed the last highway bill in 2005, an attempt was made by Senator F. Lautenberg to attach a national helmet law onto that must-pass legislation. The MRF, with the help of state motorcyclists' rights organizations (SMROs) and motorcyclists nationwide, was able to help stop that amendment from passing, and it’s to the praise of Senators like McCain, Clinton, and Obama who all voted against the national helmet law. So whatever side of the political pasture you are sitting in, know this: all of these senators have gone on record opposing national helmet laws and standing in defense of states' rights to govern themselves. That's an otherwise bright spot in a presidential race thats sure to get much more ugly before it's over.
